An Eco-Friendly Skincare Routine Guide to Achieving Healthy Skin

Do you want clean, healthy skin and a thoughtful skincare routine? Whether you have sensitive skin, spotted your first wrinkle, or are just looking to add more natural elements to your daily routine, I’m sharing my go-to tips and tricks to keep my skin bright and clear.

From your body to your face, here are some of the best healthy skin tips to amplify your skincare routine.

Start dry brushing for exfoliation and circulation

An amazing, chemical-free, and all-natural way to keep your skin healthy and glowing is by incorporating dry brushing into your skincare routine. What is dry brushing, you may ask? Dry brushing helps exfoliate dead skin cells, promoting cell turnover and a smoother complexion. What’s not to love!?

Plus, the process of dry brushing stimulates blood flow, which can contribute to a more even skin tone and a radiant glow.

So, once you’ve got your brand-new dry brush, here’s what you need to do. Take a natural bristle brush and gently brush your skin in upward strokes, moving towards your heart. Make sure to avoid sensitive areas and broken skin. For best results, aim to dry brush before you shower or bathe.

In terms of how often you should dry brush, there seems to be some debate. Some say to only do it once or twice a week, others say 4-5 times a week is great. Just remember to not overdo, only doing five-minute sessions, and ensuring you’re not irritating or rubbing your skin raw. Gentleness is key!

skincare gua sha

Say hello to Gua Sha

Body plane gua sha is a traditional Chinese technique that involves gently scraping (I know that’s not the most pleasant word to use) the skin to stimulate blood flow and promote lymphatic drainage.

This practice can help reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and relieve muscle tension.

Here’s how to use a gua sha in your daily routine. Using a smooth, flat tool made of jade or rose quartz, apply gentle pressure while gliding the tool over your skin.

Then, incorporating body plane gua sha into your routine can enhance the overall health and appearance of your skin. However, if you’re already dry brushing, you don’t need to double down.

Cleansing with Face Theory Clarifying Cleanser

Choosing the right cleanser is essential for maintaining clean and healthy skin. The Face Theory Clarifying Cleanser is a powerhouse product that combines gentle exfoliation with deep cleansing properties. Infused with ingredients like salicylic acid and niacinamide, it helps unclog pores, control excess oil, and promote a clear complexion. Incorporate this cleanser into your daily routine to keep your skin refreshed and free from impurities.

Sustainable Face Products

Nourishing with Rosehip Oil Moisturizer

Moisturizing is a crucial step in any skincare routine, and rosehip oil is a natural powerhouse. Packed with essential fatty acids and vitamins A and C, it helps nourish and rejuvenate the skin. Rosehip oil also aids in reducing inflammation and improving skin texture.

Apply a few drops of rosehip oil to your face and neck after cleansing to lock in moisture and promote a healthy, radiant complexion. Gently massage it into your skin.

Gentle Cleansing with Olive Oil-Based Soap

Ditch soap that dries out your skin! There’s a way better alternative. Instead, use a natural, pure castile olive oil-based soap for your body. It can make a significant difference in your skin’s health.

Why olive oil? This all-natural oil is rich in antioxidants and healthy fats that help maintain the skin’s natural moisture barrier. It cleanses without stripping the skin of its natural oils, leaving it soft, smooth, and hydrated. Look for soaps that use high-quality, organic olive oil for the best results.

Shielding Your Skin with Eco-Friendly Sunscreen

Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is essential for maintaining its overall health and vitality. The problem is that most store bought sunscreens are pumped full of harmful chemicals that can have adverse health effects. No, thank you! Instead, find yourself an eco-friendly sunscreen (linked my go-to for face and body) that is free from harsh chemicals and safe for both your skin and the environment.

The best thing to do here is look for products with mineral-based ingredients like non-nano zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, which provide effective protection against UVA and UVB rays. Remember to apply sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days, and reapply it throughout the day for continuous protection. Your skin will appreciate it!

My top travel recommendations ♡

These are a few of my top travel tips that will save you time and money while setting up for an AMAZING trip.

Booking flights: I can’t get enough of Google Flights. They have a cool feature where you can type in your departure airport and discover where you could fly within a certain budget. Otherwise, you can also compare airports and see what day is best to fly in/out to help you save money and have the most efficient flight path.

Travel insurance: SafetyWing is my go-to choice for travel medical insurance. They have a global policy that covers 180+ countries. You can visit any doctor, cancel anytime, and you’re even covered for a few weeks after returning to your home country.

Anti-theft bag: To help protect against pickpockets, I like to carry my beloved Travelon bag. It’s slash-resistant, has locked zippers, and is very sleek and functional for traveling abroad.

Accommodation: I almost exclusively use Booking.com to find places to stay when traveling. I got tired of all the additional fees from Airbnb and their hosts. Plus, Booking has everything from hotels and hostels to b&bs and entire house/apartment rentals.

Travel Credit Card: I love-love-love my Capital One Venture One credit card. It has a $0 annual fee and no fees when using abroad or paying in a foreign currency. Plus you get 20,000 bonus miles when you spend $500 in your first three months when you get this card.

Tours: I don’t travel on complete tours as I like to travel on my own terms, but I do like to book experiences, walking tours, and excursions through GetYourGuide. They have an amazing line-up of things to do in destinations around the globe. You can also fass a lot of skip-the-line tickets as well.

Hi, I’m Christa! Welcome to my sustainable solo travel blog dedicated to inspiring others to travel slowly, embracing a heart-forward and spirited approach to adventure.
