Most Enchanting Gardens in Barcelona: Greenery Guide

Looking for tranquility in bustling Barcelona? Though not necessarily known for its gardens, Barcelona happens to have several enchantingly colorful and green gardens worth exploring at any time of the day. Experience the variety of plants and flowers available to you with this guide to the best gardens in Barcelona.

Jardines Del Teatre Grec

When initially approaching Jardines Del Teatre Grec, you won’t yet notice the Greek amphitheater situated behind it. You’ll lay witness first to the green climber plants dangling around pergolas. Then there are geometric flowerbeds of red, white, and pink as well as a terrace and a small central fountain.

Behind the tranquil garden, you’ll discover the Treatre Grec (Greek amphitheater) where musicians and other artists will commonly pass their time performing and practicing.

Originally built for the 1929 International Exposition, Jardines Del Teatre Grec is now a popular spot for many of the Barcelona Grec Festival hosted every summer.

Mossèn Costa i Llobera Garden

Mossèn Costa i Llobera Garden, but we’ll call it the cactus park, is a garden park situated at the bottom of Montguïc, facing the sea. With practically empty footpaths, hundreds of cacti, other succulents, and a variety of plants from sub-tropical climates, this park is the nature lover’s paradise.

It’s — of course — a very sunny spot in order to keep the 800 different cacti and other species happy and healthy. Other species include subtropical trees, century plants, and even flowerbeds. Some plants in this garden are more than 100 years old.

Jardines de Laribal

Once an old estate, Jardines de Laribal is a big, yet peaceful garden in Montguïc. You’ll stumble upon enchanting little fountains and cozy terraces surrounded by a variety of flowers, trees and water features. There’s even a lovely café restaurant nestled nicely into this public garden.

It consistently remains a serene, shady, and relaxing getaway from the city life, with minimal tourists and visitors daily.

Jardins de Rubió i Lluch

One of the most central gardens in Barcelona is Jardins de Rubió i Lluch. It’s located in El Raval. You’ll find it tucked it in the courtyard of the Antic Hospital de la Santa Creu and the Casa de la Convalescència.

Its has a dozen or so orange trees living happily planted around a central fountain as well as various plants and flowers.

Also, find shade and spots to sit around the courtyards inner walking paths. You’ll often see giant-sized chess matches going on in this courtyard and other activities, too. It’s a popular spot among the locals. You’ll find a nice and coszy bar and restaurant within the garden called El Jardí.’

My top travel recommendations ♡

These are a few of my top travel tips that will save you time and money while setting up for an AMAZING trip.

Booking flights: I can’t get enough of Google Flights. They have a cool feature where you can type in your departure airport and discover where you could fly within a certain budget. Otherwise, you can also compare airports and see what day is best to fly in/out to help you save money and have the most efficient flight path.

Travel insurance: SafetyWing is my go-to choice for travel medical insurance. They have a global policy that covers 180+ countries. You can visit any doctor, cancel anytime, and you’re even covered for a few weeks after returning to your home country.

Anti-theft bag: To help protect against pickpockets, I like to carry my beloved Travelon bag. It’s slash-resistant, has locked zippers, and is very sleek and functional for traveling abroad.

Accommodation: I almost exclusively use Booking.com to find places to stay when traveling. I got tired of all the additional fees from Airbnb and their hosts. Plus, Booking has everything from hotels and hostels to b&bs and entire house/apartment rentals.

Travel Credit Card: I love-love-love my Capital One Venture One credit card. It has a $0 annual fee and no fees when using abroad or paying in a foreign currency. Plus you get 20,000 bonus miles when you spend $500 in your first three months when you get this card.

Tours: I don’t travel on complete tours as I like to travel on my own terms, but I do like to book experiences, walking tours, and excursions through GetYourGuide. They have an amazing line-up of things to do in destinations around the globe. You can also fass a lot of skip-the-line tickets as well.
