Beginning your journey towards sustainable living is so exciting! Plus, our face doesn’t often take kindly to harsh products and chemicals, so keeping them off your face is doing both your body and our planet a favor. Using sustainable ingredients and eco-friendly packaging, here are my favorite sustainable face products and why you should try them.

Sustainable Face Wash: Lush’s Angels on Bare Skin
First things first, sustainable face wash. I couldn’t speak more highly about Angels on Bare Skin from Lush. It’s 100% natural with exfoliating ground almonds and calming lavender oil to balance and soothe the skin.
It also has a EWG rating of 2, making it one of Lush’s most natural and safe products.
The product does come in a black polypropylene pot but Lush reuse all of their pots, and when you bring you 5 empty pots, you get a free face mask.
If you’re looking for a plastic free face wash, Lush has that too. I’m a big fan of Movis.
Sustainable Toner: Rosehip Oil
I love rosehip oil! It’s natural and lovely and does remarkable things for the skin. With Vitamins A and B, it’s great at brightening, fading dark spots, and evening out the skin and even has astringent properties.
After only a couple of days using it, I noticed my pores shrank significantly and my eye creases had begun to fade.
I would highly recommend rosehip oil as a sustainable toner. I use it on a daily basis and the bottle hardly looks used.
Eco-Friendly Moisturizers
Moisturizer is an essential in my sustainable living daily routine, thanks to my dry skin. I’ve gone through a few plastic free moisturizers over the past years and I don’t have one specific brand I go to, but instead I use a variety throughout the year depending on the season and where I’m living.
One of my top favorites sustainable face products comes from Lush. It’s called Full of Grace and it’s a plastic-free, solid moisturizer bar. It slides on like butter and soaks into the skin beautifully.
Another one of my favorite moisturizers is one I’ve been using for a several years off one an amazing Etsy shop called A Wild Apothecary.
She sells handmade, natural products from her work studio in Colorado, so you know you’re supporting a small business.
I use the Sweet Cheeks face butter. A little goes a long way with this face moisturizer, so one 1oz bottle will last 3-6 months. It’s packed full of amazing ingredients like shea butter, argan oil, rosehip seed oil, lavender, etc.
Reusable facial cloths
This is one I see people being the most wasteful with. Buying a long plastic-lined pack of cotton pads to remove the days makeup and dirt is very unstainable. These really add up and it’s unfortunate when there’s plenty of sustainable alternatives.
I like to use facial cloths made from bamboo. They’re the size of a normal wash cloth but thinner, and I can use the same one multiple times before washing them. Plus, if you want to be extra eco-friendly you can wash them by hand instead of using your washer and dryer.
Other than bamboo cloths, try a 10-pack of reusable cotton pads with a laundry bag and sustainable packaging. This is a great way to use sustainable face products in your daily life.
