Uncovering the Best Ramen in Barcelona

Tapas, jamón, and sweet sangria may first come to mind when you consider cuisine in Barcelona, but being such a cosmopolitan city, there’s much to indulge in. Among the best is ramen — the salty, soupy, noodley goodness we have Japan to thank for. There can be some hit or misses when it comes to ramen in Barcelona, but I’ve you covered. Here’s the best ramen restaurants in Barcelona.

Looking for ramen restaurants in Barcelona? Whether you are a vegetarian or meat-eater looking for ramen in Barcelona, I've got you covered with these best restaurants in barcelona.

Grasshopper

Right in the heart of el Born, Grasshopper is a counter-style Japanese ramen bar serving up some of the absolute best ramen in Barcelona. However, it’s not a good choice if you’re looking for a private setting as its counter-style makes it a small and compact, placing you directly beside other guests.

I’m a big fan of their tan tan mien vege prepared with spicy sesame, tan tan tofu, bok choy, soy sprouts, and chives. This *may* be my favorite ramen place in Barcelona… shhhh.

You’ll also find various starters like gyoza dumplings, kimchi, tofu, and seaweed salad along with craft beers and wine.

Koku Kitchen Ramen

With a low-lit and inviting ambiance, you’ll find this Barcelona ramen restaurant in the Gothic Quarter offering up Japanese soups, starters, gyozas, desserts, and drinks. It’s a big hit when it comes to ramen in Barcelona, and it’s a cozy option for date nights with friends or lovers.

Choose from shoyu, miso, soy, or spicy soups that can be both vegan and vegetarian friendly. The staff is friendly and the vibes are chilled out. PS, there’s also a location in el Born, but I’m highlighting the Gothic Quarter one because I like the setting better.

Red Ant Noodle Bar

Chilled out with a rather simple decor, the Red Ant Noodle bar is fantastic spot for Asian noodle and rice dishes. They also serve wine, beer, and non-alcoholics drinks to pair with your food. The Red Ant is also a great spot if you’re looking for dishes beyond ramen, as they have Thai curries, fried rice and noodles, bibimbap, tofu, and lots of meat options.

My favorite dishes are their vegetarian spicy miso ramen and the green vegetable curry… yum!

Ramen-ya Hiro

Cozy wooden decor, ramen, rice dishes, and gyozas in a casual space, Ramen-ya Hiro is nestled between Sagrada Familia and Passeig de Gràcia. It’s one of the most poppin’ places for ramen in Barcelona for a reason! Order some edamame, gyozas, or another classic starter while you wait on a beautifully crafted warm bowl of ramen. Finish it off with some matcha ice cream, if your tummy will allow it.

Vegetalia Ramen in Barcelona

Honorable Mention: Vegetalia

This isn’t a ramen joint by any particular means. It’s a vegetarian restaurant in Barcelona, with various locations in the city centre. They have gyozas and other Asian dishes, but I tried their vegetarian miso ramen and I was very, very happy with it! If you’re craving ramen with some fellow vegheads, Vegetalia is a solid option!

I ordered ramen from the location in El Born, so I’ll mention in below.

My top travel recommendations ♡

These are a few of my top travel tips that will save you time and money while setting up for an AMAZING trip.

Booking flights: I can’t get enough of Google Flights. They have a cool feature where you can type in your departure airport and discover where you could fly within a certain budget. Otherwise, you can also compare airports and see what day is best to fly in/out to help you save money and have the most efficient flight path.

Travel insurance: SafetyWing is my go-to choice for travel medical insurance. They have a global policy that covers 180+ countries. You can visit any doctor, cancel anytime, and you’re even covered for a few weeks after returning to your home country.

Anti-theft bag: To help protect against pickpockets, I like to carry my beloved Travelon bag. It’s slash-resistant, has locked zippers, and is very sleek and functional for traveling abroad.

Accommodation: I almost exclusively use Booking.com to find places to stay when traveling. I got tired of all the additional fees from Airbnb and their hosts. Plus, Booking has everything from hotels and hostels to b&bs and entire house/apartment rentals.

Travel Credit Card: I love-love-love my Capital One Venture One credit card. It has a $0 annual fee and no fees when using abroad or paying in a foreign currency. Plus you get 20,000 bonus miles when you spend $500 in your first three months when you get this card.

Tours: I don’t travel on complete tours as I like to travel on my own terms, but I do like to book experiences, walking tours, and excursions through GetYourGuide. They have an amazing line-up of things to do in destinations around the globe. You can also fass a lot of skip-the-line tickets as well.
